Pros & Cons of Heavy Bag Hangers

If you are comfortable with some installation work and if the house allows it, mounting your heavy bag to the wall, ceiling or a support beam is the best way to hang it. The lack of a bulky stand means it is less obtrusive, giving you ample training space.
More training space means that you can hit the bag at any angle, allowing you to practice your footwork and movement freely. Mounted bags are also more stable compared to stands which shake and wobble or even topple over if you hit the bag too hard.
If you don’t have a support beam to mount the bag, you will need to perform some installation work that requires drilling into the walls or ceiling. Kicks can generate higher levels of power than punches, so it is important to ensure that they are safely mounted. Poor installation or an inferior mount can cause damage to the house.
To summarise the pros and cons of using heavy bag hangers:

Wall mount brackets are very popular heavy bag hangers. They are usually picked when you prefer to mount the hanger on the wall instead of the ceiling. However, there are few things that you should take note of.
There are 8 holes for bolting to the wall, making this a very secured and safe mounting system. Theoretically speaking that is. If you have concrete walls , then this is not much of a problem. The problem comes when you have a house made of wood and drywall.
This is because you will need to bolt the hanger onto the wood studs of your house, and it’s highly likely that the studs will not be the right distance apart for the bolts. Most customers overcome this by screwing wood boards (about 2×6) onto the drywall and then the hanger onto the boards (as you can see in the image below).
Wall-bracket also negates the full benefits of using mounted heavy bags with reduced training space. Additionally, with less than 3-foot of space from the wall, the heavy bag will slam into your wall a lot.
Lastly, wall mount hangers will usually take no more than 100 lbs so that is something to take note of if you intend to go for a heavier bag.
