So you have decided on getting a heavy bag for your Muay Thai training at home. Your next step is to decide on how you want to hang your heavy bag. For that, you basically have two choices which are wall/ceiling/beam mount or a heavy bag stand. In this article, I will share with you my picks of the best heavy bag stands for Muay Thai training.
To pick the best heavy bag stands for Muay Thai, it will depend on a few factors: 1) weight of your heavy bag, 2) your budget, and 3) where you intend to set up your heavy bag. These are constraints that you have to take into consideration.
Ideally, the best heavy bag stands should be stable when the bags are hit, able to hold up the bag safely, and provide adequate training space without impeding your movements. Before we go into the detailed reviews, here’s a quick look at the candidates for the best heavy bag stands:
Heavy Bag Stand vs Mount

There are two main types of heavy bags, namely the free-standing bags and the hanging heavy bags. If you have decided on getting a free hanging heavy bag for your home training, you now need to make a decision on getting a stand for the bag or to hang it with a mount (on the wall, ceiling or a beam).
I didn’t give this much thought initially; I just assumed that mounting was the best choice for its stability and price. However, there are pros and cons to both the mount and the stand which I will compare here.
Installation
Heavy bag stands typically come with an easy assembly. If you are renting an apartment, you are bound by rules on installing fixtures which can rule out the option of having a mount as it will require drilling into the walls or ceiling.
Load Capability
A good mount system, assuming that it is installed professionally, can handle roughly heavy bags up to 200lbs. A solid heavy bag stand will hold heavy bags up to as high as 350lbs (although bags between 100-120lbs are more commonly used for Muay Thai training). Bear in mind that if it is not properly installed, mounts can cause serious damage to the house along with potential health risks.
Stability
There is a possibility of a heavy bag stand toppling over if you are kicking the bag too hard. The stability of a heavy bag stand depends not just on the design of the stand but also the weight of your heavy bag.
Generally speaking, mounted heavy bags offer better stability over stands which can topple over especially if you’re a hard-hitter. Some heavy bag stands overcome this by including sandbags or weighted plates to weigh them down. This is an easy do-it-yourself solution for any bag stand.
Space
Most heavy bag stands tend to be quite bulky. Such a base can get in the way, impeding your footwork and movement when you train. Many boxers prefer suspending the heavy bag from the ceiling or a beam as it allows them to train on the bag from all angles.
If you will be using the bag for somewhat static workouts without much movement, then the heavy bag stands made for boxing won’t be a problem. For a proper Muay Thai training experience, there are a few heavy bag stand models that are designed to offer more training space that I discuss below.
Portability
The heavy bag stand can be shifted around, indoors and outdoors for those who prefer having this advantage of portability. While they can be heavy in themselves, they are at least movable unlike mount systems which require serious dismantling and re-installation work.
Price
Price is a deal-breaker or maker for many people. The will set you back around $180-200 (USD) while the top-of-the-line heavy bag stand can go for as much as $1000 and up. Or at least $300 and above.
Bear in mind that heavy bag stands weigh a few hundred pounds and may set you back quite a bit for the shipping costs.
Verdict
If your house allows it and you’re down for some installation, the mount offers the best Muay Thai home training experience. For renters or those staying in an apartment, the heavy bag stand may be the only option possible.
Best Heavy Bag Stands for Muay Thai

If you have made up your mind on getting a stand, this is the section for you as I discuss the best heavy bag stands for Muay Thai home training.
As of now, there are no heavy bag stands made by any of the traditional Muay Thai brands which typically offer better value for money. The available options come from boxing brands and a few sporting goods companies.
Here are my picks for the best heavy bag stands for Muay Thai. Let’s go!
5. Everlast Heavy Bag Stand
Everlast Heavy Bag Stand
- GREAT FOR TRAINING: Heavy bag stand is perfect to help with training and fitness
- SUPERIOR STABILITY: Featuring heavy-duty, powder-coated steel tubing for superior stability
- 3 WEIGHT PLATE PEGS: Includes 3 weight plate pegs for maximum strength and durability

First off, this is Everlast which is a boxing brand, so the heavy bag stand is designed for boxing (hands). Structurally, it limits footwork due to the legs on the base. The key reason I have listed on my top five is due to its (relative) affordability.
The stand handles a maximum weight of 100lbs which is the weight of a standard heavy bag. That needs to be taken into consideration if you are planning to get this for the banana bag which comes at around 120-130lbs when fully filled. Although you will do fine with a 100-lb banana bag.
For static workout involving little to no footwork, this is worth your consideration. This is ideal for cardio workouts, power training for your punches and kicks, as well as sharpening your elbows and knee strikes. If you want to work on some Muay Thai combos, this gets the thumbs down.
For improved stability and to prevent it from toppling over when the bag swings due to your kicks, you will need to hold it down with some weights or sand bags.

4. Titan Adjustable
Titan Fitness Single Tree Heavy Bag Boxing Stand, Two Adjustable Heights, Rated 300 LB Capacity, Cardio Boxing Equipment
- 360-degree access around the bag - Bag not included
- Two adjustable height options: 7' 4" or 8' 6"
- Vertical design occupies minimal floor space

- Two adjustable height options: 7' 4" or 8' 6"
- Vertical design occupies minimal floor space
The Titan Adjustable takes the best bits from mount systems and heavy bag stands to come up with this gym-friendly design. It has the advantage of requiring minimum floor space while offering the best setup for proper Muay Thai training, allowing complete freedom of movement that is on par with mount systems.
However, the Titan Adjustable requires anchoring to the concrete flooring. Unfortunately, this is not feasible for those of you staying in an apartment. This is also some serious installation work involving drills, concrete anchors and retightening of the bolts from time to time.
Back to the positive side, it will take heavy bags up to 300lbs and the height can be adjusted to your liking for banana bags or standard bags. The price at about $300 is steeper than even the best mount system. If you have your own space and house, perhaps a garage gym, I would recommend the over this.
The Titan Adjustable has many merits as a heavy bag stand and if you’re okay with holes in your flooring over holes in your ceiling, then this be it.

3. Balazs
Balazs Universal Heavy Bag Boxing Stand – Completely freestanding, Solid Steel, Easy to Upgrade and Extend

- For 1 heavy bag up to 150 lb (300 lb with spring upgrade) and 6 ft.
If you ignore the price of the stand for a minute, the Balazs heavy bag stand is a great choice for home training. The build is solid, the stand is stable due to its weight, and it will likely last a lifetime
But that price tag, combined with shipping, will cost you an arm and a leg. This is priced out of most budgets and there are clearly comparable or better options for less than half the cost of the Balazs stand.
Personally, I can’t stomach the price tag. It’s a pass for me. But for everything else, this is a really good heavy bag stand.

2. Outslayer

- 7.8ft tall, Heavy Duty, Made in USA, Stand for all size heavy bags up to 350lbs.
The Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag Stand is a design that works on a simple but effective idea. It essentially eliminates the limitation of installation that requires literally, ground-breaking installation work. This is done by using sandbags that you can easily fill on your own.
The Outslayer stand can be set up with much ease in a fraction of the time. It is secondary in terms of moving space for Muay Thai training, outperforming the boxing bag stands but just very slightly inferior compared to the Titan Adjustable or our number one pick (see below).
For your Muay Thai combos and footwork, the Outslayer fulfills the requirements adequately. The stand is able to hold up to 350lb-weight and banana bags with no issue.
It is simple to install with 7-screw assembly and the best part is that the made-in-USA stand comes with a 10-year warranty. The price can be steep (retails for $699 on Outslayer official online store) but with the quality and warranty, it’s worth it.

- UP TO 100lbs - Holds up to a 100lb bag securely

For a complete Muay Thai training workout involving footwork and combos, I find the standard boxing heavy bag stands to be very limiting as the base would get in the way.
This is where a “corner” heavy bag stand improves upon, by widening the legs of the base and providing more training space. There is plenty of room to move about, almost as good as you can get with any system.
The Corner Man is easy enough to assemble on your own and allows you to train hard without worrying about damaging your house. It is adjustable, and is tall enough to hold a banana bag with no problems if you fill it to around 100lbs.
Some customers reported that the stand shifts and slides during training. This can be overcome simply by placing the legs over rubber mats.
The Corner Man is designed to fit and installed in room corners, making optimal use of space for the best training experience. Overall, it ticks everything on the list as a heavy bag stand for Muay Thai home training. Definitely get this if it fits your budget.
Note: You can purchase it direct from Century if it is out of stock on Amazon.
Conclusion
Well, there you have it. Get the bag, get the stand, hang it up and start training.
Chok dee!
