In a press conference held at the Royal Thai Army headquarters on 13 Feb, All Star Fight announced what could potentially be the most extraordinary fight card of the year. The promotional team has rounded up 5 of Thailand’s most renowned world champions who have come together for an event like no other before.
Titled All Star Fight: World Soldier, the show is organized in partnership with the Royal Thai Army to promote the national sport of Muay Thai as well as the fighters, several of whom are soldiers.
The production features a cast that needs little to no introduction. Headlining the event are global fighting icon, Buakaw Banchamek; kickboxing superstar, Superbon Banchamek; former Lumpinee and Thailand Muay Thai world champion, Yodwicha Banchamek; Glory Kickboxing Lightweight world champion, Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong; and Glory Kickboxing Featherweight world champion, Petchpanomrung Kiatmuu9.
It is worth noting that all five Thai fight stars are soldiers of the Royal Thai Army.
In an official statement, the Royal Thai Army hopes to develop the event into an ongoing affair with the possibility of inviting soldier-fighters from around the world to participate.
For the inaugural Army World Soldier event, eight bouts have been scheduled for 3-round fights under full Muay Thai rules. Other notable international competitors on the show include Artem Pashporin, Sergei Kuliaba, Luis Passos and Spencer Brown.
If there’s any fight worth making the trip to Bangkok for, this would have to be it. Stay tuned for more details on the match ups and ticketing information. In the meantime, here is a look at the full fight card for All Star Fight: Army World Soldier:
